I have a great ’69 Tele, but always wondered why Leo didn’t let them add an elbow cut and a belly cut - so I did it myself! Starting with a one-piece slab of Michigan White Ash, a maple 24.5” scale neck, and my favorite mixed pickups - single coil at the neck for that Tele chang, and a hum bucker at the bridge for the woman tone. I was fortunate that my friend Julius Medina bought a guitar from me, and he tipped me this leather pick guard that is awesome. Add in a Bigsby-style tremolo, which BTW easily comes off of the standard Tailpiece studs, and you can play it whammy or not. Wired Volume/Volume/Tone, this thing is an absolute blast to play - think a little Dwight Yoakum or Merle Haggard or Buck Owens - it’s awesome.
